Feeling dizzy or off-balance can be debilitating. Vestibular Rehabilitation Therapy (VRT) is an exercise-based program primarily designed to reduce vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability, and/or imbalance and falls.
What is the Vestibular System?
It includes parts of the inner ear and brain that process the sensory information involved with controlling balance and eye movements. When disease or injury damages these processing areas, vestibular disorders can result.
How VRT Helps
- Habituation Exercises: Designed to reduce dizziness through repeated exposure to specific movements or visual stimuli that provoke patients' dizziness.
- Gaze Stabilization: Used to improve control of eye movements so vision can be clear during head movement.
- Balance Training: Exercises used to improve steadiness so that daily activities for self-care, work, and leisure can be performed successfully.
If you are suffering from vertigo or chronic dizziness, our specialized therapists can evaluate your condition and prescribe a customized treatment plan to help you regain your equilibrium.
